This is the first month that Rosh Chodesh was ever celebrated on, because it was the month that we were given the mitzvah of Rosh Chodesh. (This was also the first mitzvah ever given to Bnei Yisroel.) This is the month that the Mishkan was finished, and Rosh Chodesh Nisan was first time it was used, and all of the Avos were born. Not necessarily in that order.
PESACH IS COMING!!!! YAYYYY!!!!! We get to learn the story of Pesach which, like the story of Purim, isn't a story, and clean the house to a ridiculous degree, and make food that none of the little kids will really eat cuz it doesn't taste "like normal."
If you haven't cleaned your car for Pesach yet, you are in good company. Many people are struggling with the same procrastination issues as you are, waiting for a nice weather day that coincides with a Sunday day. You can get help for this problem! Dial 1-800-[car cleaning company number] today!
We are going to start Sefira during this month, so be prepared... Go get a haircut!
This month is when most Yiddeshe young women make the switch from winter to summer. (You all know what I mean...)The reason is unknown, and may have something to do with the fact that in some places, other than Detroit, the weather changes and it turns into spring. Y'never know, it may happen here too.....
In addition, starting now we get to make brachos on fruit trees. This is cuz its supposed to be nice and warm outside, and the fruit trees should bloom. Unfortunately, it is often not actually nice and warm. But we get to make the bracha anyways:)
Also, just a funny thought- Nisan is one of the only two months also used as a Jewish name (Sivan is the other one), and Pesach is the only yontif that is a name! Also there is a type of car named after this month.
